For anyone that doesn't read the main mod board, there's a thread up about Crime Enhanced: http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubbthreads/fav...er=&postmarker=

Cool, i would really like this here. How many % have you done? rolleyes.gif

PS: What have there been out of Following Attackers?

aerelorn- 07-03-2004
It's still being planned out. But the research for it is pretty much done, so I'd say that's worth about 50%

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about Following Attackers(which has been renamed Hostile Pursuit). It'll be out before Crime Enhanced.

No, it's about guards/bandits/creatures following you through load doors. I haven't figured out any good way to do what suspicious behavior was going to.

o ok thanks for the reply should still be sweet though keep up the good work aerelorn

Kemutsemu- 07-31-2004

tonto_101- 07-31-2004
...Okay...thanks for your...input...

The objective is smarter thievery, not harder thievery.

what about being able to hold up stores? you could just wear a generic balaclava, and if you talk to the person you rpobbed again later they might recognise your voice(depending on your speachcraft skill, you might have 100% chance of NOT being found out that way).

i got an idea, what about the community size mattering? eg. in the thread on the official forums, someone mentioned killing the person in the lighthouse, with no reprecussions, well, in a small community such as seyda neen, with no one EVER leaving town, they wouyld find out faster than, say, killing someone living in a st. olms house pod thing, probably some time the next month they would find out? like when someone come around to collect rent? or also important/ powerful people like in the quest where the ordinators being found dead would be found out quicker, it was all over the place, but it is understandable, caus the ordinators are bad @$$, but i can slaughter the minestry of truth, and no one will ever mention the situation again! but if say, for arguments sake, hul, the pauper in balmora is killed, will anyone really care? i mean, the guards will, but only because its their job. maybe he might have a few friend, who may come knocking on your door, and rival theives, everyone in morrowind is a saint! they never do any crime themselves! what about having a chance of finding a theif in a locked or noble house with random amounts of gold biggrin.gif

I had posted some suggestions on thievery for TESIV, but it seems like maybe some of them could be implemented here. Some things I would like to see:

1) Stop the accidental "pick up a cup by accident and the whole tavern tries to kill you" - Perhaps, if you are not in stealth mode, and you click on something that you don't have a valid ownership to, you get a warning box like "This item doesn't belong to you, are you sure?", or maybe instead, when you click on it, the NPC who owns it says "Hey! Leave that alone!" and you don't actually pick up the item the first time. Then if you want to you can pick it up and face the consequences. Maybe to make things easier, you can only pick up owned items while you are holding down the sneak button? It's annoying for me sometimes having to turn on the console to figure out whether an item is owned or not before i pick it up.

2) I really like the "NPC hears you if you steal things in another room" idea. Ideally, I think it would be good if there were "zones" in an NPC's shop or house that if you crossed into and were seen, you would get yelled at; so that you can't just walk into someone's shop and then up into their bedroom in plain sight, you would need to sneak up there. However, adding these zones would probably require adding extensive triggers in all the shops, so it might not be worth it.

3) Maybe if you've got a really high wanted level, have something similar to the dark brotherhood assassination attempts, where when you rest, there's a chance of an imperial guard or a bounty hunter attack.

4) In general, I think it's too easy to just pay the fine and suddenly everyone (including the people you robbed blind) are your best friends again. The "notoriety" system you mentioned sounds like it will help a lot. Is there perhaps a way to set a "max disposition" on shopkeepers you stole from, so that you can't just Admire them up to 100 again? I feel like if you were going to try and buy from them, they should at least give you bad prices unless you are maybe in disguise, or cast a charm spell on them. Maybe if your notoriety gets bad enough in a certain area, you're required to do some kind of "penance" quest for the local guard/populace, much like when you get kicked out of your guild and try to get back in.
